The first meeting of the club was held on October 25, 1981 at the Illinois Valley Kennel Club Show in Peoria, Il.   Present for the meeting was Frank Fox, Bob Burton, Mary Price, Carol Bridgeman, Gilbert & Edith Sykes, Mary Hayes, Jeana & Chester Brown, Patty & Susan Griffin, Kylene Kline, and Lynn & Michelle Beeley.

 In 1982 Frank Fox was elected as President of the club.  The first fun match was held on July 24, 1982 and had a total of 47 entries.  Celia Dugger served as the match chairman.  

In 1983 Gilbert Sykes took over the reins as President.  That year two fun matches were held, one in April with 33 entries, and another in August with 44 entries.  The club name was also approved by AKC.  

In Jan of 1985 the club was incorporated.   In 1989 Judy Sears was elected President, and the club joined the Chihuahua Club Of America.     

The first Sanctioned B Match was held on September 2, 1990 in New Berlin, IL.  There were 56 entries and the judge was Nancy Shapland.  In 1991, on Sept 1 the 2nd Sanctioned B Match was held with a total of 29 entries, Celia Dugger was the judge.  The 3rd match was held on May 30, 93 at the McLean Co Fairgrounds in Bloomington, IL with Marcia Hostetler judging an entry of 41.  The final match was on Feb 27, 94 at the Capitol Canine Training Club, in Chatham, IL.  Virginia Noth was the judge with an entry of 55 dogs.

The first specialty show of the club was held on Oct 22, 94 at the IL State Fairgrounds in Springfield, IL. The judges were Brad Jenkins for the sweepstakes, and Nancy Shapland for the regular classes.  There was a total of 87 entries.  

In 1995 Steve Hayden accepted the office of President.  The club continued to grow and move ahead under Steve's excellent guidance.  Steve was President until 2001. 

Colleen Hines was elected President in 2002 and served for 2 years.  Colleen’s husband John was elected President in 2004 2005, 2006, and 2007.  Steve Hayden returned in 2008 as President.
